PTA Engineering provided the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology systems design services to CBLH Architects for Mercy Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit Addition.
Located in Canton, Ohio, Mercy Medical Center‘s 83,400 square foot, three-story addition included:
- A twenty-four (24) bed, 25,800 square foot intensive care unit.
- 14,500 square feet of office and support space.
- A two-level, 66 car parking garage.
- A new helicopter landing pad on the roof.
This substantial project required adjustments and additions to the existing MEP infrastructure systems. The facility’s existing fire protection, medical air, oxygen, and medical vacuum infrastructure systems were extended to the new addition. A new water supply, sized as a backup/redundant service for the main hosptial, was designed for the ICU Addition. A new custom air handling unit was designed to provide high quality air to all patient care areas of the facility. These systems were planned to accomodate an additional three-stories for future expansion.
Our extensive experience working in hospital environments provided a strong foundation for this design.
